Google Fiber

Google Fiber

While Google Fiber is now part of Internet history, this explainer made for a good creative exercise. And collaborating with the good folks at Hyperakt always makes for fun and solid work.

At the time, Google Fiber promised to deliver the fastest internet possible to American homes. To demonstrate the service, Google built an installation space—a home—as a way to educate the public about a service that is otherwise intangible. Part of the installation was a two-minute long video spread horizontally across four televisions. That’s 7680x1080!

We had fun and landed on a good mix of 2D graphics in a 3D space. I was the 3D lead and animator for this freelance gig.

The installation space

This is one wall in a other huge space that Hyperakt designed for Google Fiber. Seen here are four monitors where the informational video lived.
